At the Mirowitz Center, discover how the National Socialist (Nazi) party weaponized the concept of Degenerate Art to degrade, humiliate, and shame modern and other art, especially targeting the works of Jewish artists. In observance of Yom HaShoah – a day dedicated to remembering Holocaust victims – Saint Louis Art Museum docent Bill Sitzer will lead us through this powerful propaganda tool used by the Nazi party under Hitler’s regime. This policy restricted artistic expression to only those artists and ideas that aligned with Hitler’s vision of a “pure German race.” No cost to register, but RSVP required. |
